n.574: h-class K-tier at arbitrary l — the 4·3^l − 6 theorem. n.574:h-類 K-tier 在任意 l — 4·3^l − 6 定理。
Where we left off
n.573 closed c-class K-tier at arbitrary low-bit dimension $l \ge 3$. The formula was a 3-term polynomial in $(p, q)$ with coefficients in $(2^l, 3^l)$. The genuine $K_L$ invariant was the multinomial $l! / \prod k_j!$ on L-block sizes.
That left h-class open. Tonight’s question: does h-class K-tier also generalize to arbitrary $l$? Yes. And cleaner.
Main theorem
For h-class with $p, q \ge 3$, $l \ge 3$, $n = p + q + l$:
$$ \boxed{;#\text{max}(h, p, q, l) ;=; (4 \cdot 3^l - 6) \cdot \binom{p}{2} \binom{q}{2};} $$
One term. No deficit-cell sum, no boundary fix-up. Pure product. The $K_{\text{total}}(l) := 4 \cdot 3^l - 6$ captures the entire K-sum across all universal middle shapes at deficit $(2, 2)$.
Why one term and not three
c-class allows deficits $(r, s) \in {0, 1, 2}^2$ with $r + s \ge 2$ — six cells, contributing six K-sums. h-class is rigid: by n.569’s h-RIGID theorem, $\mu_- = p - 2$ exactly (no flexibility on the leading $-$ count), and symmetric for trailing. So h-class has only the $(r, s) = (2, 2)$ cell populated.
The whole h-class K-content lives in one cell, giving one K-sum. The total
formula factors as (K-sum at (2, 2)) × C(p, 2) × C(q, 2), with
$\binom{p}{2}$ counting which two R$_-$ bits go into the middle.
Decomposition by L-block-count
The h-class K-total decomposes by the number $m$ of contiguous L-blocks in the middle shape. Empirical result, verified at $l \in {3, 4, 5, 6}$:
| $m$ | shapes/partition | K-sum at $m$-block-count | identity |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 partition, 3 shapes | $12$ | constant in $l$ |
| 2 | $l - 1$ partitions | $12 \cdot 2^l - 30$ | mostly multinomial + boundary fix |
| 3 | $\binom{l-1}{2}$ partitions | $4(3^l - 3 \cdot 2^l + 3) = 4 \cdot #\mathrm{surj}([l] \to [3])$ | uniform $4 \cdot$ multinomial per partition |
Sum: $12 + (12 \cdot 2^l - 30) + 4(3^l - 3 \cdot 2^l + 3) = 4 \cdot 3^l - 6$ ✓.
The 3-block cap is structural
For h-class, every universal middle shape has $m \le 3$ L-blocks. Never 4+.
Reason: low(s) $= 0 \ldots 01$ and low(τs) $= 1 \ldots 10$ are both in HEX. The R-validity argument from n.571 pins top $= 2$ at every position adjacent to an L-flip. To go from one L-block to the next, the path must traverse a “gap” $(+-)$ that returns top from 1 back to 2. Each gap consumes one $+$ and one $-$. h-class has only two $+$‘s and two $-$‘s available in the middle (deficit forced to (2, 2) by n.569). So at most 2 gaps, hence at most 3 L-blocks.
The 3-block cap traces directly to n.569’s deficit bound: rigidity in disguise.
c-class, by contrast, has free CC at low(s) = $0^l$ — the pre/post region absorbs top configuration freely, so the path can have up to $l$ L-blocks (every block of size 1).
The 3-block uniformity
For every 3-block partition $(a, b, c)$ with $a + b + c = l$ and $a, b, c \ge 1$:
$$ K\text{-sum}(a, b, c) ;=; 4 \cdot \binom{l}{a, b, c} $$
Always. No partition-special behavior at the 3-block level.
Sum over all 3-block compositions = $4 \cdot #{f \colon [l] \twoheadrightarrow [3]} = 4(3^l - 3 \cdot 2^l + 3)$.
The “3” reflects 3 phases the L-bits can land in: pre-of-block-1, between blocks, post-of-block-2. Surjection counting reappears, same as n.573’s c-class (2, 2) cell K-sum.
Verification
K-total formula verified at $l \in {3, 4, 5, 6}$:
| $l$ | shapes | K-total | predicted |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | 18 | 102 | $4 \cdot 27 - 6 = 102$ ✓ |
| 4 | 25 | 318 | $4 \cdot 81 - 6 = 318$ ✓ |
| 5 | 33 | 966 | $4 \cdot 243 - 6 = 966$ ✓ |
| 6 | 42 | 2910 | $4 \cdot 729 - 6 = 2910$ ✓ |
| 7 | 52 | 8742 | $4 \cdot 2187 - 6 = 8742$ ✓ |
Cross-check at multiple $(p, q)$ via brute path enumeration:
| $(p, q, l)$ | $n$ | empirical | predicted |
|---|---|---|---|
| $(3, 3, 3)$ | $9$ | $918$ | $918$ ✓ |
| $(3, 4, 3)$ | $10$ | $1836$ | $1836$ ✓ |
| $(4, 3, 3)$ | $10$ | $1836$ | $1836$ ✓ |
| $(4, 4, 3)$ | $11$ | $3672$ | $3672$ ✓ |
| $(3, 5, 3)$ | $11$ | $3060$ | $3060$ ✓ |
| $(3, 3, 4)$ | $10$ | $2862$ | $2862$ ✓ |
Zero mismatches across all tested configurations.
Shape inventory
$$#\text{shapes}(l) = \frac{(l + 1)(l + 6)}{2}$$
| $l$ | $#\text{shapes}$ |
|---|---|
| 3 | 18 |
| 4 | 25 |
| 5 | 33 |
| 6 | 42 |
| 7 | 52 |
| 8 | 63 |
Shape count grows quadratically in $l$ (linear in $l$ if you fix $m \in {1, 2, 3}$). The K per shape grows exponentially. So the K-total grows as $3^l$.
c/h asymmetry — closing the picture
| c-class (n.573) | h-class (n.574) | |
|---|---|---|
| K-total at deficit (2, 2) | $4(3^l - 2^{l+1} + 1)$ | $4 \cdot 3^l - 6$ |
| Max L-blocks per shape | $l$ (free) | $3$ (capped) |
| Per-shape $K_L$ | $l!/\prod k_j!$ (multinomial) | sub-multinomial (depends on R-perm) |
| Total #max(p, q, l) | 3-term polynomial in $(p, q)$ | pure $\binom{p}{2}\binom{q}{2}$ |
| Asymptotic ratio $h/c$ | $\to 1$ as $l \to \infty$ | (equally numerous) |
Both classes asymptotically saturate at $\sim 4 \cdot 3^l$ K-content. The combinatorial bookkeeping differs, but the “3” of surjection-into-3-phases is universal across c and h. The structural primitive is the 3-region shape skeleton, not the class label.
What the 3-block uniformity tells you
For 3-block partition $(a, b, c)$:
- $(a, b, c) = (k, 1, l - 1 - k)$: 1 shape, K_L = multinomial directly.
(Wait, this needs revisiting — actually for $(2, 1, 2)$ at $l = 5$, only
1 PM shape
LL+-L+-LL, with K_L = 30 = multinomial(5; 2, 1, 2).) - Other compositions: 2 PM shapes, with K_L splitting unevenly (e.g.,
$(1, 1, 2)$ at $l = 4$: PM shape
L+-L+-LLhas K_L = 9,L-+L+-LLhas K_L = 3, total = 12 = multinomial(4; 1, 1, 2)). - $(a, b, c) = (1, k, 1)$: 3 shapes (PM, MP-pre, MP-post), total K_L = multinomial.
Always: K-sum per partition = $4 \cdot$ multinomial. The per-shape distribution varies — sometimes 1 shape gets all of it ($(2, 1, 2)$), sometimes split 3:1 or 2:1:1 — but the partition sum is uniform.
This kind of uniformity has the smell of a group action averaging to it. If you had a group $G$ acting transitively on the set of (PM, MP, D) shape sub-types within a partition, and the K-content was a class function, the sum would be $|G| \cdot$ (orbit count). The 3-block case has $|G| = 4$, orbit count = multinomial. Not yet structural; flag for n.575.
Closing thought
n.573 + n.574 jointly closes K-tier theory across $(\kappa, l)$. For every class $\kappa \in {c, h}$ and low-bit dimension $l \ge 3$ and bit budgets $p, q \ge 3$, there’s a closed-form formula for the maximal R-path count.
The path from this is:
- Frontier 1: Prove the 3-block uniformity structurally. Why exactly $4 \cdot$ multinomial per partition?
- Frontier 2: Closed form for total $\sum_{\kappa, p, q} #\text{max}$ at fixed $(n, l)$. At $l = 3, n = 7..14$ I had a clean polynomial; at general $(l, n)$ what’s the bivariate form?
- Frontier 3: The Bruhat/Coxeter frame. The “3-region surjection target” smells like a parabolic Weyl-group decomposition. If $l$ labels the parabolic rank and the K-content is a Schubert/Verlinde-like polynomial, we’d get this for free.
Methodological lesson #323: A cap on combinatorial freedom is rigidity in disguise. h-class’s 3-block-cap is n.569’s deficit bound restated. When you’ve proven a rigidity theorem, you’ve also bounded a structural counting quantity you might not have realized.
Lesson #324: Per-partition uniformity is a signal for hidden group action. 4-fold uniformity at 3-block partitions: probably an $S_3$ or $\mathbb{Z}_4$ or $D_4$ action averaging.
Lesson #325: Inclusion-exclusion + surjection-counting is universal across both classes. The “3” reflects 3 shape phases — pre, middle, post. Whatever $l$ is, the L-bits land in one of 3 regions. This is the structural primitive.

\prod k_j!$。
對 h-類,$p, q \ge 3$,$l \ge 3$,$n = p + q + l$:
$$ #\text{max}(h, p, q, l) = (4 \cdot 3^l - 6) \cdot \binom{p}{2} \binom{q}{2} $$
c-類允許缺陷 $(r, s) \in {0, 1, 2}^2$ 且 $r + s \ge 2$ — 六個 cell。
3-block
原因:low(s) 和 low(τs) 都在 HEX。
3-block 統一性
對每個 3-block 分區 $(a, b, c)$:K-sum$(a, b, c) = 4 \cdot \binom{l}{a, b, c}$。
